Blog Homework 4: To work or not to work...

Hi everyone,

Thanks to those who submitted essays last week. While they were all well written, some were a bit "off-topic". Make sure you read the question well before starting to write your essay.

This week, I want you to aim for 300 WORDS!! You can achieve this by including more details, reasons and examples. I'll be checking your number of words next week and there may be some prizes in store for those who write 300 words or more.

Okay, here is this week's question:

In some countries teenagers have jobs while they are still high school
students. Do you think this is a good idea? Support your opinion by using
specific reasons and details.

* jobs = part time jobs

Looking forward to reading your essays. And don't forget that you have a writting test in class next week!!

Best Wishes,
Kris

I think that the high school student may have part-time job. There are some reasons. In a very poor home, even it is an economic potential important though the high school student. Because there are circumstances of the each home in each family, it is extremely difficult to express a conclusion. About the right or wrong of the labor of the high school student, it depends on the social situation in each country. I think that civil law or the commercial law or other laws should accept the labor of the high school student in the Western countries. It is admitted that I work from 15 years old formally in Japan. However, I seem not to be able to afford to make an age limit in South America, Asia and the African poor country. According to the aforesaid, there is important duty to support a family to children led by the high school student. It depends on a country and domestic circumstances, but thinks that I should recognize that a high school student has work basically in conclusion. However, the personal opinions of my own are different. It is a theory limited to the industrial countries such as G7 or the country of West Europe; I think that the high school student should devote himself or sheself to studies as far as there are not outstanding circumstances. I think that I should read a lot of books because from 15 to 18 years old is very important time in the personality forming, and absorb variety.

Having jobs at one’s high school age would benefit him or her because children could have opportunities to communicate many people and learn things which can’t be learned in classes; how to communicate politely or the difficulties to work with somebody. But this system has not only good points but also weak points. By having jobs in early teens, their time for study is eaten up and children will be too tired to attend their classes. I also think children in junior high school don’t have much time to do things except study. When I was around 13 I had kept myself busy with school and homework. According to data, it is more likely that teenagers who have jobs at their junior high school or high school age could have worse grade than students having no jobs. One of my friends had a job in his teen and he had little time for study. Eventually he dropped out the school due to his bad grade. Considering these negative points, we have to say children must concentrate on their school work and study in order to get high grades. Furthermore, if children want to help their parents they should study hard because high grade in school enable children to enroll good school. This means they can get high salary jobs. As a result, studying hard makes people financially stable. My relatives had been financially unstable because they had two sons and one daughter and all of them enrolled private high school. All of them understood their parents were concerned about finance that they studied hard. Finally all of these three could high salary jobs. This way, hard studying eventually leads to good situation rather than having jobs in one’s teens.

Many people in Japan says that high school students should not work because they are afraid that by working, high school students can not keep up with their class and get good grade. What they say is partly true, but, I think whether they work or not is freedom of their choice. Some students may be working by the reason why they must earn their school expenses. Other students may be working to realize their future’s dream. So, I think it is not good to force them to stop working. Also, working or doing a part time job have some good points. One good point is that by working, they can know the social system. The experience must be useful in their future. Two good points is that they can be acquainted with people who have much knowledge about life. When high school students are in trouble, they can give good advice. As I have explained, working has many good points. Thus, I think it is good for high school students to work.

I think high school students don't have to have part-time jobs.Because I think the part-time job has mischief.
According to the recent statistics, students who have a part-time job don't have high score in their school tests. My friend who has a part-time said 'I cannot take a high score on test.Because my part-time job finishes at 10:00. After that I watched TV or do my homework. So, I cannot sleep enough.'As you know, Sleeping is bound up with studying.
So, I think high school students have to concentrate on studying.Because they have to study. And I think if they had no money to go to school, they will take a scholarship. They have to gain that way than to work after their school.
That's way I think High school students don't have to have a part-time jobs.

I really agree with the idea that teenagers should have jobs while they are still high school students. There are three reasons for this.
First reason is that students should pay their school fees to some extent by having jobs and earning money.According to a recent survey about school expenses, more than 90% students are totally dependent on their parents and don't pay much money although their parents work for their children so hard.I think this is wrong. More or less, students have to be independent economically.
Second reason is that high school students are mature enough to have jobs physically and mentally.Actually, a lot of my friends in high school days worked part-time late at night and attended school without being late. This indicates that they are strong physically and mentally.
The last reason is that getting out into society can make students grow up earlier. If they have jobs, they"ll learn lots of things such as manners, common sense, behavior and so on unlike the students who just go to school. As for me,I have a great experience at Starbucks every day.For example,I was able to become acquainted with various kinds of people like school teachers, office workers, exchange students etc . This experience can be never achieved in high school.I think students should not only study hard but also experience social life. The sooner, the better!
That's why I think it is a good idea to have jobs while they are in high school.

I think high school students need to study hard in school days.
There are two reasons to support the idea. First, high school students seem to be low position in society because they are in their minority. If anything happens, they can’t be responsibility for problems. For example, when high school student work at his workplace he quarrel with other employee about work attitudes. And he hit with him. In this situation his parent is responsibility for social problem.
Second, even though they work hard every day their pay is lower than full time worker’ that. So they study hard and learn a lot of skills. In some situation they may need money at once. For example, parent is struck down by illness or student earns school fees by himself. I think parent get son ready for studying surroundings.
That is why I believe it isn't a good idea.

I think that it is good for high school students to have part time jobs.
Of course, studying should take first priority. If a student neglect his studies, he should not have part time jobs. Students should have part time jobs on condition that making time for studying.
However, if students study hard, I think that students may have part time jobs. By having part time jobs , students can know that the world is not easy to live in.

I am agreeable in going to school while a high school student works. Because I learn most from work, and it will be it in the thing that the income helps parents. But the excessive labor will cause various problems. Enough sleep is necessary for children greeting a big stage of growth and should study well for the future.
Therefore, for example, I do the working hours of the high school student all day long with less than 5 hours and think that it is necessary to arrange the constant limit.

I think should not have part time job,If be under the ban to a high school. We learn to keep the rules in schoollife. that means provide against to have job in the school, have a point something or other. and,If you can have job, have to live with it for three years. and, you get the job. We should study for high school age.

I think high school students need not have part time job.
Some high school ban from working.
But working teach students different things.
Students can know that it is hard to earn money.
Students have to have responsibility as a member of social.
Students can buy something they want and enjoy hobby by their pay.
So,it is a part of student to study.
    But working is good experience.
I do not know which to choose.

I think that it may work even as a high school student if it is necessary. There are two reasons for this.
First, for instance, working to help the household economy when it is an impecunious family is good. In this case, it cannot oppose working.
Second, a thing that is more important than the class might be learnt by working. For example, It is a rule of the society. etc...
That is why I think it is a good idea to have jobs during they are in high school.
